WhatsApp button generator that counts every click

Create your wa.me link with a pre-filled message, a QR code and a floating WhatsApp button for your website. The button sends a GA4 and Google Tag Manager event on every tap, so a WhatsApp conversation finally counts as a lead.

  • No sign-up
  • Copy and paste
  • WordPress, Shopify, Wix, Webflow
  • No watermark

What you get

Three pieces almost no small-business site gets right

A link, a QR and a floating button that also tells Google Analytics every time a customer writes to you.

A correct wa.me link

The official "click to chat" format: international number without the plus sign or spaces, and a URL-encoded message. Works on phones (opens the app) and desktop (opens WhatsApp Web).

A QR code to print

Menu, counter, van or flyer. It is the cheapest way to move a walk-in customer to a channel you can measure.

A button that gets counted

Every tap pushes an event to the dataLayer and to gtag. Mark it as a key event in GA4 and import it into Google Ads as a conversion.

Light, no dependencies

About 2 KB of inline HTML and CSS. No external script, no iframe: nothing loads from WhatsApp until someone taps it.

The problem

Plenty of WhatsApp buttons, almost none measured

77%of Houston small-business sites load Google AnalyticsHouston
34%use Tag Manager, so most contact clicks are never countedHouston
47%of San Salvador sites link to WhatsApp; only 26% measure itSan Salvador

Figures from our September 2026 study of 597 small-business websites in Houston and San Salvador, measured with the same checks. See the full numbers.

How to count clicks

From "nice button" to conversion in four steps

The button already sends the event. What remains is telling Google that this event is a lead.

01

Paste the code before

Once, in the footer. In WordPress with WPCode or footer.php; in Shopify in theme.liquid; in Wix or Squarespace under "Custom code".

2 minutes
02

If you use Google Tag Manager

Create a trigger of type Custom Event with the event name you set above, then a GA4 Event tag with the same name fired by that trigger. Publish.

5 minutes
03

Mark it as a key event in GA4

Admin → Events → find the event (it appears after the first click) → toggle "Mark as key event".

1 minute
04

Import it into Google Ads

Goals → Conversions → Import from GA4 → select the key event. From then on every conversation is attributed to the campaign and keyword that produced it.

Where to put the button so people use it

Bottom right

That is where people expect it. Use bottom left only if you already have a chat widget or a cookie banner on the right.

Keep the phone number in the header

Some customers prefer to call. The floating button adds a channel; it does not replace the other one.

A different message per page

"Hi, I saw the roofing page…" tells you what the customer wants before they say it. Generate one link per service.

The QR on printed material

Menu, counter, invoice, van. Scanning it opens the chat with the message already typed.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

If yours is not here, write to us and we answer the same business day.

Do I need a WhatsApp Business account?

No. The link works with any WhatsApp number. A Business account adds a catalog, quick replies and away messages, which are useful once volume grows.

Does the button slow down my site?

No. It is about 2 KB of inline CSS and HTML, no external script and no iframe. It does not load anything from WhatsApp until someone taps it.

Will it work with WPCode, Elementor or a Shopify theme?

Yes. It is plain HTML and CSS. Paste it in any place that prints code in the footer. In Elementor you can also drop it in an HTML widget inside a footer template.

Why does my WhatsApp click not appear in GA4?

GA4 shows new events after the first click and with a delay of up to 24 hours in standard reports. Check Realtime first. If it never appears, your site does not load GA4 or Tag Manager on that page; run our free website checker to confirm.

Can I have several numbers, for sales and support?

Generate one link per number and place one button per page, or use a small menu. If you need routing by time or by agent, that is a WhatsApp Business Platform integration; we build those.

Is the generator really free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no watermark. We built it because measured contact channels are the first thing we fix on every client's site.

Prefer that we do it?

Want the whole site to convert and be measured?

We build and fix websites for businesses in Houston and El Salvador: forms, WhatsApp, calls and bookings, all counted in Analytics.
